Edison takes on Marina

Share

GAME OF THE DAY

Huntington Beach Edison (15-3, 8-1) at Huntington Beach Marina (18-2, 8-1)

Why it matters: First place in the Sunset League is on the line in the first of two meetings this week between these city rivals. Senior pitcher Race Parmeter (5-0, 1.46 earned-run average) will start for Marina, which is ranked No. 5 in the Southland by The Times. He will be opposed by Edison’s Henry Owens (6-0, 0.48). Marina has won 10 consecutive games since a 4-3 loss to Edison last month that came on Chris Czernachowski’s two-run walk-off single in the seventh inning. The No. 4 Chargers fell into a first-place tie with the Vikings last week when they lost to Fountain Valley, 5-4.
