Rangers avoid four-game sweep
Texas 6, at Oakland 4: Michael Young hit his 18th homer and Tommy Hunter pitched seven solid innings for the Rangers, who avoided their first four-game series sweep since April 2008 at Boston.
at Detroit 7, Baltimore 3: Brandon Inge hit a two-run homer in a four-run second inning and Rick Porcello (10-7) became the second pitcher in Tigers history with double digits in wins at the age of 20 or younger. He joins Dave Rozema, who had 11 victories before his 21st birthday.
at Cleveland 2, Minnesota 1: Rookie Trevor Crowe hit a tiebreaking double in the seventh inning. The switch-hitting Crowe is hitting .375 with six runs and four RBIs in six games since his recall from triple-A Columbus.
at Kansas City 8, Seattle 2: Bruce Chen won in the major leagues for the first time since 2005.
