Police were seeking information Wednesday on a British motivational speaker and spiritual healer who was arrested in Ventura in connection with the killing of a Las Vegas woman.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers were responding to a missing person’s report Nov. 30 when they found the body of Ginger Candela, 44, in her garage. The residence had been ransacked and numerous items had been taken, according to a Las Vegas police statement.

Police suspect Michael Lane, 34, of killing Candela.

Lane, who also uses the name Chae Saville, was reared in London and is heavily involved in “the concept of spiritual healing” and motivational speaking, the statement said.

Detectives believe Lane may have befriended numerous women and defrauded them without their knowledge.

In addition to Las Vegas and Ventura, he is known to have visited San Diego and Portland, Ore. He also may have lived in the Philippines, where he may have a daughter.

Lane was taken into custody Dec. 3 at a Motel 6 in Ventura, said Cpl. Rick Payne of the Ventura Police Department, which assisted in the arrest along with the FBI-LAPD Fugitive Task Force.

The arrest was done on a Las Vegas warrant, and Lane is expected to be turned over to authorities there in a week to 10 days, said Officer Bill Cassell, a Las Vegas police spokesman. Lane waived his right to extradition, Cassell said. Anyone who has had contact with Lane is asked to call Las Vegas police at (702) 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
