Solicitation of witness’ murder: In Thursday’s Section A, an article on Pavel Valkovich’s guilty plea to solicitation of murder ended with this paragraph: “Attorney John Niel McNicholas said Valkovich never intended any harm. ‘There never was going to be an attempted murder of anyone in this case,’ he said. ‘It was all a hoax.’ ” McNicholas’ middle name, Neil, was misspelled, and his position was misstated. He says that his client did intend for the killing to occur, but that it was “a hoax” because the man Valkovich asked to commit the crime was secretly cooperating with prosecutors and never intended to go through with it.

L.A. Opera: An article in Wednesday’s Calendar about L.A. Opera getting a $14-million bailout from Los Angeles County quoted County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky as saying, “For all they have built up . . . this is almost no price for us to pay. We’ll make money on the interest rate, and we’ll save the opera.” In fact, it is not the county that will receive the interest payments; they will go to Banc of America Leasing & Capital. An article in today’s Calendar section has more details, Page D19.

Bingo machines: The headline for an article about a ban on California’s bingo machines that ran in Thursday’s Section A incorrectly said the ban had been upheld. A federal appeals court did not rule on the ban itself. It lifted an injunction on enforcement of the ban.

Vlatka Horvat: A Holiday Hot List item in Thursday’s Calendar section listed a live art performance by Vlatka Horvat to take place Saturday in the L.A. River. The performance has been canceled because rain is forecast that day.

Playa Vista: A California Briefing item in Thursday’s Section A on the Playa Vista project said there are two existing residential developments. One is commercial and the other is a mix of residential, office and retail.

Ponche Villa recipe: In Wednesday’s Food section, a recipe titled Ponche Villa, which accompanied an article about the fruit tejocote, included the wrong nutritional values. Each cocktail has 150 calories; 0 protein; 22 grams carbohydrates; 0 fiber; 0 fat; 0 cholesterol; 22 grams sugar; 7 mg. sodium.

Magnet schools: An article in Thursday’s Section A about new data on L.A. magnet schools incorrectly referred to Hillcrest Drive Elementary as Hillside Elementary.

Elvis Costello: A review in Wednesday’s Calendar of the Sundance Channel’s “Spectacle: Elvis Costello With . . . “ series referred to the site of the second season’s opening episode with U2 as Harlem’s Apollo Theater. That episode, and one other, was taped at the Masonic Temple in Toronto, Canada. The remaining episodes are set at the Apollo.

Frank Zappa: A review of the Frank Zappa Green Umbrella concert in the Dec. 3 Calendar said that Pierre Boulez had conducted the Ensemble Modern in a performance of Zappa’s music. For that performance, Boulez conducted the Ensemble InterContemporain.

Robbie Conal: A Happening Today listing in Wednesday’s Calendar said Robbie Conal would be signing books that night at the Santa Monica Museum of Art. The event took place Tuesday.

Leslie Caron: An article about Leslie Caron in Tuesday’s Calendar mistakenly included “Daddy Long Legs” among the MGM films she starred in. She made “Daddy Long Legs” at 20th Century Fox.
