Re-Pete

I have to laugh at the UCLA and Notre Dame fans who complain about Pete Carroll and his methods [Letters, Jan. 17]. If he were available to coach for their teams, they would jump at the chance to hire him. I guess it just goes to show that losing to Coach Carroll every year does make you a bitter person.

Carl Smith leaves USC two weeks after he signed on to become the quarterbacks coach, and Pete Carroll has nothing but kind words for him. “I’m excited for Carl. He’s one of my closest friends.”

Mark Sanchez leaves the Trojans after four years to pursue his dreams in the NFL, and Carroll has only negative things to say and won’t even sit next to him. Go figure.
