Price cut on cuts

New Zealand sheep’s wool, silk fabric, Canadian salmon skin, crab shells. This odd melange sounds like the beginning of a found-art project or a culinary misfire, but at the Tom Brophy Salon, it’s the ingredients list for a new hair salve.

British-born Brophy, former longtime art director at Vidal Sassoon, these days is known for treatments such as the salon’s collagen hair therapy ($100 to $125, depending on length), a four-step process that promises to hydrates dry and damaged hair with each of those previously mentioned ingredients.

Another exotic-sounding option, the Brazilian straightener, is a formaldehyde-free $450 treatment for all hair types that leaves hair shiny and straight for up to four months.

Brophy, who specializes in women’s hair, has a signature cut, the graduated bob -- shorter in back, longer in the front -- a versatile style that, he says, wears well over time. His wife, Jennifer Jones, and team of stylists also do the mundane expertly -- cuts, color, blowouts and updos -- and Jones specializes in men’s hair.

The recently opened Beverly Hills salon, Brophy says, is designed to be the sensory equivalent of an art gallery, with high ceilings, whitewashed walls, paintings and bamboo ikebana arrangements.

From today until Feb. 14, he’s offering a pre-Valentine’s Day special of 15% off cuts, color and collagen hair treatments.
