Paul’s triple-double lifts Hornets to win

Chris Paul had 27 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds, his fifth triple-double of the season, and also had seven steals as the New Orleans Hornets defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, 101-86, on Monday night.

Peja Stojakovic highlighted a 26-point performance with six three-point baskets for New Orleans, which was badly outscored inside but made up for it with 14 three-pointers as a team.

Thaddeus Young had 22 points and Andre Miller 19 for the 76ers, who squandered a 47-40 halftime lead in losing for only the second time in their last 10 games.

It was the second time this season Paul came within a few steals of a quadruple double, but when asked about that, he would only critique the few times he mishandled the ball or unloaded an errant pass.

“A couple more turnovers and I would have had whatever you call five,” Paul said.

Paul wasn’t really that close to a quintuple-double, though; he had only four turnovers.
