Bullpen holds it together for Reds
Mike Lincoln and four other relievers gave up one earned run in eight innings after starter Edinson Volquez left early and the Cincinnati Reds rallied to beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-3, on Monday night.
Lincoln (1-0) gave up a home run to Colby Rasmus in three innings and Francisco Cordero earned his 14th save this season and 28th in a row.
Volquez, a right-hander who had been on the disabled list because of back spasms, left complaining of numbness in the pinkie and ring finger of his pitching hand.
Rasmus had a single, home run and double in his first three at-bats before grounding out in the eighth against Arthur Rhodes.
