On the ice

I realize the media likes to point out the absurdity of the NHL’s TV situation, but fans should know that ratings for the NHL playoffs are markedly up from last season in a time when most sports league are seeing double-digit decreases. Obviously most people have figured out where to find Versus.

Why some fans are satisfied to watch the free-throw shooting exhibition that the NBA has become instead of the nonstop action on ice that defines the NHL is beyond me.
