A Bell Gardens food supply company is recalling 89,531 pounds of granulated chicken bouillon products, according to the Agriculture Department’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The bouillon, from Wei-Chuan USA Inc., originated from “an unapproved source” and was deemed ineligible for import into the country. After being notified by Customs and Border Protection, food safety agents couldn’t determine whether the preparation of the poultry ingredients in the bouillon met federal regulations or an equivalent foreign inspection system. The 1-pound, 2.2-pound and 5-pound cans and packets of the bouillon were distributed to retailers in California, Illinois, New Jersey, Texas and Washington.

* Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. is recalling two types of handguns after discovering that they may discharge without the trigger being pulled. The recall affects all Walther PPK and PPK/S models made by Smith & Wesson from March 21, 2002, to Feb. 3, 2009, the gun maker said. * Arrowhead Mills Inc. is recalling Arrowhead Mills Organic Stone Ground Whole Wheat Flour, 2 pounds, with a lot code of 06OCT09 because the product may contain an undeclared dairy allergen, which could cause a severe reaction in people allergic to milk protein. The company said there had been no reported illnesses. The recall involves the unit UPC No. 74333-47242. The recalled product was distributed to natural food stores nationwide. * Tri-Union Seafoods is recalling the 5-ounce variety of Genova solid light tuna in olive oil. Because of a production error, the product is mislabeled and contains albacore tuna in soybean oil with vegetable broth that contains soy. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy run the risk of a serious allergic reaction if they consume these products, mostly distributed in the Northeast. Consumers who bought the tuna with the UPC code 4800013265, “Best By Date 10/17/12” and product code DEHAH 1A225 or DEHBH 1A225 are asked to return it to the store where they bought it for a full refund.
