New York 5, at Baltimore 3: Johnny Damon hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning and Mark Teixeira and Robinson Cano also connected for the Yankees.
at Boston 4, Tampa Bay 3: Jonathan Papelbon powered his way out of a ninth-inning jam with three straight strikeouts after Jason Bay doubled home the go-ahead run in the eighth.
Detroit 5, at Cleveland 3: Rick Porcello extended Detroit’s streak of strong pitching, and the Tigers completed a three-game sweep of the struggling Indians.
Texas 7, at Chicago 1: Hank Blalock homered twice and the Rangers ended Bartolo Colon’s dominance against them. Colon had won 12 straight starts against Texas since Aug. 21, 2003. It was the longest active winning streak against one opponent in the majors.
Toronto 5, at Oakland 0: Brett Cecil earned his first major league victory and Alex Rios drove in three runs for the Blue Jays.
at Angels 4, Kansas City 3: Torii Hunter made a homer-stealing catch in the ninth inning to preserve the win.
