KANSAS CITY, KAN — . -- Second-half substitute Eduardo Lillingston scored six minutes after entering the game, and MLS West-leading Chivas USA salvaged a card-filled 1-1 draw with the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday night.
The Wizards (4-4-3) finished with nine men after the ejections of forward Josh Wolff and midfielder Santiago Hirsig. Still, Chivas USA (7-1-3) couldn’t pick up its first win in five trips to Kansas City but broke a string of four straight losses here.
The Wizards went up 1-0 in the 56th minute on Claudio Lopez’s long free kick.
Lillingston replaced Chukwudi Chijindu in the 58th and got the tying goal in the 64th, taking a pass from Sasha Victorine, another sub, and beating Wizards goalkeeper Kevin Hartman from six yards.
Wolff was ejected four minutes after that, in a flurry of cards sparked by Mariano Trujillo’s hard foul on Wolff. The two exchanged words, and Wolff drew a straight red card for lowering his forehead into Trujillo’s head.
Wolff, who leads the Wizards with six goals, will be suspended at least one match for the ejection.
