Long Beach police shot and killed a man who allegedly pulled a gun on two officers who were chasing him Sunday afternoon, according to a police spokeswoman.

The incident began about 4 p.m. near 15th Street and Henderson Avenue, when officers in a special gang unit tried to make contact with two men who ran from them, said Nancy Pratt of the Long Beach Police Department.

The chase ended at 15th Street and Magnolia Avenue when one of the men brandished a gun. One or both of the officers opened fire, fatally wounding the man, Pratt said. A gun was found at the scene. Neither of the officers was injured.
