Fruit prices led to personal boycott

Share

Re: Michael Hiltzik’s column, “When speech arouses boycotts,” Aug. 31:

I have been boycotting Whole Foods for over three years, but not because of its CEO’s political positions.

One evening I thought it might be a good idea to buy a few pieces of fruit for the next day’s breakfast. Imagine my surprise when the checker gave me a bill for almost $15. I put them back and swore that I would never step into a Whole Foods market again.

I felt it was morally wrong to support a company that charged such exorbitant prices for food, something that no one can do without.
