Fenway Park on 2010 schedule

If Manny Ramirez and Joe Torre don’t return to Boston’s Fenway Park with the Dodgers in the postseason, they’ll have another chance next year under the 2010 schedule released Tuesday.

The Dodgers are slated to play the Boston Red Sox at Fenway on June 18-20 as part of interleague play. The Dodgers also will host the New York Yankees at Dodger Stadium on June 25-27, the Yankees’ first visit to Chavez Ravine since 2004.

Fenway, of course, was Ramirez’s home during his years with the Red Sox and it was the site of memorable battles between Boston and the Torre-managed Yankees.

It would be “curious going to Fenway and not wearing a Yankee uniform,” Torre said Tuesday before the Dodgers’ game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

“The Yankees coming here is less of an attention-getter for me than going there” to New York, Torre said. “But I look forward to it.”

Ramirez, who could exercise an opt-out clause in his contract after this season, was asked how he would feel returning to Fenway if he’s still with the Dodgers next year.

“I don’t want to talk about that,” he replied. “I want to talk about the Pirates today.”

Pittsburgh is where the Dodgers open next season April 5. After their series with the Pirates and Florida Marlins, the Dodgers return for opening day at Dodger Stadium on April 13 against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

They also close the regular season with a three-game series at home Oct. 1-3 against Arizona.

The Dodgers’ interleague play also includes two series against the Angels, at Anaheim on June 11-13, then at Dodger Stadium on June 22-24.

Ethier’s benchmarks

Right fielder Andre Ethier entered Tuesday’s game with 29 home runs, the most for a Dodger in a season since Jeff Kent hit 29 in 2005.

And with his walk-off, two-run homer against the Pirates, Ethier became the first Dodger to hit 30 since Adrian Beltre hit 48 in 2004.

Ethier also has 98 runs batted in. If he drives in two more runs, he will be the first Dodger to post a 100-RBI season since J.D. Drew in 2006.

Ethier, 27, said his production this year was all the more gratifying because the Dodgers are in first place in the National League West.

“If I have a good year, and have your team have a good year at the same time, there’s a lot more satisfaction,” Ethier said.

Twenty-one of Ethier’s 30 home runs have been hit at Dodger Stadium, the most in a season by a left-handed hitter in the stadium’s 47-year history.

He also has a career-high 40 doubles and six walk-off hits, tops in the major leagues.

“This is the first season where I’ve had a chance to play full-time from day one,” Ethier said. “It takes a lot of time and learning in this game to be able to go out there and perform and put up the numbers.

“It finally shows that given a chance and given a little confidence in you -- from not just yourself but from other people -- can go a long way in this game,” he said.

Short hops

With a day game scheduled today, Torre rested James Loney and started Mark Loretta at first base Tuesday night. Catcher Russell Martin, third baseman Casey Blake and possibly shortstop Rafael Furcal might not start today as well for added rest, Torre said. . . . Before pinch-hitting Tuesday, Loney was batting .448 (13 for 29) with three home runs in his last nine games. Loney has hit 12 homers this season, none at Dodger Stadium.
