Toronto 8, at Boston 7: Adam Lind hit three of the Blue Jays’ six home runs but the Red Sox clinched the American League wild-card berth by virtue of Texas’ 5-2 loss to the Angels. Ricky Romero (13-9) gave up two runs and struck out three in five innings to beat Boston for the first time in five tries this season. The Red Sox, who lost their fifth in a row, scored five times with two outs in the eighth inning to cut a six-run deficit to 8-7.
