Brek Shea’s goal in the 71st minute helped FC Dallas extend its unbeaten streak to 11 games on Saturday at Pizza Hut Park as the Hoops downed Chivas USA, 1-0.

Shea scored his fifth goal of the season from a Jair Benitez cross as he sent a looping header over the head of Chivas goalkeeper Zach Thornton and inside the far post, while Dallas goalkeeper Kevin Hartman made the result stand up with a pair of key saves.

Chivas threatened twice in the opening half but Paulo Nagamura’s shot from the top of the box sailed wide, while a right-footed effort from Dario Delgado was parried by Hartman.

The first real threat from Dallas came in the 53rd minute when Thornton produced a diving save to keep out a free kick from Milton Rodriguez.

A left-wing cross from Benitez then set up the lone goal, while Hartman reacted very well to keep out Michael Umana’s header in the 77th minute before making another big stop on Delgado one minute later to preserve the win.

The result leaves Chivas rooted to the bottom of the Western Conference table with just two wins in its last 13 games.
