Will he or won’t he? The final mystery surrounding the Dodgers’ season is whether Joe Torre will return to manage next year. Torre, whose place in the Hall of Fame is secure but whose contract isn’t, has said he isn’t retiring and promised to reveal his plans once the Dodgers are eliminated from playoff contention — which shouldn’t take long given that the team’s next nine games are against contending teams that entered the weekend at least 13 games over .500. That schedule also gives the Dodgers a chance to play spoiler since they have six games left with both San Diego and San Francisco and only one is guaranteed a playoff berth.
