Las Vegas deal: Mirage rooms start at $60 during three-day sale

The Mirage in Las Vegas has launched a 72-hour sale, with rooms starting at $60 per night. The lowest rates, available midweek before and after the holidays, are great for guests who want to shop -- or drop, as they recover from the holiday hubbub.
The deal: The Mirage 72-Hour Sale starts at $60 per night plus tax, a pretty cool rate for this hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, which has a “volcano” show that erupts nightly on the hour between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. If you’re booking by phone for this deal, use the code “MIRLTO10F2.”
When: You must make a reservation before 11:59 p.m. Wednesday. Good for stays through Nov. 30, based on availability.
Tested: When I checked on the Mirage website, I found a room for two with a king or two queen beds for the $60 nightly rate from Dec. 19 to 22. With tax, the tab for four nights totaled $276. I also found the $60 rate available Jan. 2 through 5.
Room rates under this sale increase after the holidays, particularly during spring before the deadening Las Vegas heat. I was able to find a room for $119 plus tax per night from March 6 to 10.
Caveat: After you arrive at the Mirage, you’ll be a charged a daily resort fee. Through Jan. 2, that fee will total $16.80 per night, including tax. Starting Jan. 3, the fee will increase to $22.44, including tax.
