Would you like to be queen for a day, or director of Bellagio’s fountains? How about tickets to see Bon Jovi?

Fantasy buildings are so last century in Las Vegas. Now the buzz is about fantasy experiences, the latest of which are tied to an MGM Resorts casino loyalty program called M life Players Club.

The payoff isn’t just in coupons for dinner or hotel room deals but also in the kinds of special-access events at MGM properties that merit bragging rights -- a day of directing the songs at the Fountains of Bellagio, a cameo appearance in a Cirque du Soleil production at Aria Resort & Casino, or cooking lessons with celebrity chef Rick Moonen at Mandalay Bay.

To give travelers a taste of the new idea, MGM Resorts is simultaneously launching a sweepstakes that will accompany the Jan. 11 start of M life. Entrants may win prizes that reflect the kind of ultimate rewards possible through M life, such as a Rock Star Weekend with two VIP tickets to see Bon Jovi at the MGM Grand, along with dinner and a suite to crash in, rock-star style. Boxing fans may win VIP credentials, ringside seats and access to weigh-ins and press conferences during a Vegas fight night. A different grand prize experience will be awarded each week for 11 weeks. To enter, go to the M life website.

M life uses a single account that tracks casino spending across all properties. Program members can redeem their points for personalized benefits, rewards or insider access at any of the company’s 15 properties, such as Aria, Vdara, Bellagio, MGM Grand, THEhotel at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, and Mississippi’s Beau Rivage in Biloxi and Gold Strike in Tunica.

The program also tracks past preferences and hundreds of other variables to determine travel patterns. That information is used to determine which future offers would more closely match members’ tastes. A table games player could be offered promotional chips, Madonna concertgoers might be offered tickets for a Lady Gaga show, and foodies might earn a wine dinner at a top MGM Resorts restaurant. No word on the reward that would come after spending -- and losing -- big at the craps table, though.
