EVENTS

LosCon The Los Angeles Science Fantasy Society Convention, as it’s known to outsiders, is putting its focus this year on urban fantasy, steampunk, sci-fi noir and, in general, the darker side of science fiction. There is a dizzying amount of events planned, including appearances by writer Emma Bull, author of “War for the Oaks,” a pioneering work of urban fantasy. Also on hand: local young adult author Cecil Castellucci, who has lent her youthful zest to a series of books with DC Comics’ imprint, “Minx.” LAX Marriott, 5855 W. Century Blvd. Through Sunday, $25-$35 a day; $50 for the weekend. https://www.Loscon37.org.

POP MUSIC

Weezer It seems that Rivers Cuomo and Co. have been feeling nostalgic lately. Earlier this month, they released “Death to False Metal,” a collection of previously unreleased songs (including some from the early days), and reissued “Pinkerton,” their 1996 flop-turned-fan favorite. This weekend, they’re kicking off their “Memories” tour, on which they’ll play their self-titled debut album in full one night and “Pinkerton” the next. And don’t worry fans — the band will perform other material as well. Gibson Amphitheatre, 100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City. 8:15 p.m. $27.50-$106.25.
