Travelzoo and Loews team up to deliver room discounts at Western resorts

Loews Hotels have teamed up with the online discounter Travelzoo to offer low room rates through Christmas at some of their resorts in the West, including Santa Monica and San Diego. The only problem you’ll have is choosing where you want to stay.

The deal: The Loews Travelzoo Promotion lists discounted room rates at Santa Monica (35% off); Ventana Canyon in Tucson; ($79); Coronado Bay in San Diego ($109); Denver ($85); and Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, Nev. ($99). Prices don’t include tax. Use the code “TRAVELZOO” if you’re booking online or by phone.

When: The offer must be booked by Oct. 13 for stays in the following periods, by hotel:

> through Dec. 27, Santa Monica;
> Nov. 19 to Jan. 15, Ventana Canyon;
> Monday through Jan. 8, Coronado Bay;
> through Christmas (Dec. 25), Denver; and> through Jan. 31, Lake Las Vegas.

Tested: So many resorts, so little time. The discounted rates are a sweet way to sample these sites without breaking the bank, and the deal isn’t limited to midweek stays. Just remember to book using the Travelzoo link; I didn’t find these rates at the individual hotel websites. You can also get the deal by calling the number at the end of this post and mentioning Travelzoo.

I started by checking online and finding a room — king-sized bed or two doubles — for the advertised $109 per night, plus tax, at Loews Coronado Bay Resort-San Diego for the weekend of Nov. 19 to 21. For $20 more, I could upgrade to a room with patio or balcony. The hotel’s best rate for the same room on the same nights without the promotion was $169 per night pre-tax.

Next I tested the Denver location and found the $85 pre-tax rate for a king or double room for a weekend stay Nov. 12 to 14. The hotel’s best rate for same room on the same night without the promotion was $119.
