Gavin Newsom: In the Oct. 16 Section A, a profile of San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who is running for lieutenant governor, said a city report put San Francisco’s homeless count at 13,500, half of whom are on the street. In fact, the city report, based on a four-hour visual survey on the night of Jan. 27, 2009, listed the number of homeless at 6,514, and identified 2,709 of them as “unsheltered.”

Public pensions: An article in the Oct. 17 California section about public pensions as an issue in the gubernatorial race said that California Highway Patrol officers are part of a labor group called the California Statewide Law Enforcement Assn., which has endorsed candidate Meg Whitman. Highway Patrol officers are represented by the California Assn. of Highway Patrolmen, which has not made an endorsement.

Military obituary: An obituary in the Oct. 17 California section gave the wrong name for the father of Army Sgt. Daniel Lim of Cypress. His name is Woo Bang Lim, not Bang Woo Lim.

William Norton obituary: The obituary of screenwriter William Norton in the Oct. 10 California section said he died Oct. 2. He died Oct. 1.

“Everything Will Be Different”: A review of the play “Everything Will Be Different” in the Oct. 22 Calendar section gave a wrong first name for the designer of the set. She is Frederica Nascimento, not Francesca.

Torah scroll: An article in the Oct. 10 Section A about a Northridge synagogue’s plans to restore a more-than-300-year-old Torah scroll erred in referring to the synagogue, Temple Ahavat Shalom, as Temple Ahavat on second and later references. The correct short form is Ahavat Shalom.

Janet MacLachlan: The obituary of actress Janet MacLachlan in the Oct. 17 California section said she played housekeeper Polly Swanson on “The Archie Bunker Show.” The name of the TV series was “ Archie Bunker’s Place.”

Scream Awards: A Ministry of Gossip article about the Scream Awards in the Oct. 10 Calendar section implied that Anthony Hopkins attended because of his role in the 1991 film “The Silence of the Lambs.” He attended the ceremony for the world premiere of a trailer for his 2011 film “The Rite.”

Hudson River tunnel: In the Oct. 17 Section A, a map accompanying an article about a proposed tunnel connecting New Jersey and New York, and efforts by New Jersey’s governor to kill the project, mislabeled 6th, 7th and 8th avenues in Manhattan as streets.
