Update: A 1-0 home victory over DC United on Sunday has lifted spirits in the Chivas locker room, but it could take a lot more than a goal by Justin Braun, the team’s scoring leader, to overcome the Rapids on their home field. The game will be the third in seven days for Chivas, which lost a Wednesday night U.S. Open Cup semifinal game, 3-1, to the Sounders in Seattle. There are tired legs on the team and Chivas Coach Martin Vasquez will have to react accordingly. Colorado’s confidence has been boosted by a 3-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo last weekend, and it shut out Chivas, 1-0, when the teams met in the season-opener in Carson on March 26. The Rapids’ only home loss was a 1-0 defeat by the Galaxy in May. Chivas will be without midfielder Osael Romero, who is with El Salvador’s national team for its Saturday night friendly against Honduras at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
