Friday’s bowl game: Cotton Bowl
COTTON BOWL
Louisiana State vs. Texas A&M
When: Friday, 5 p.m. PST.
Where: Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, Texas
On the air: Channel 11.
About No. 11 Louisiana State (10-2): The Tigers, led by All-American cornerback Patrick Peterson, ranked second in the Southeastern Conference in total defense. An inconsistent offense ranked in the bottom third of the SEC in many categories, and was last in passing. Of course, Coach Les Miles always has something up his sleeve — whether it’s a fake field goal or eating grass.
About No. 18 Texas A&M (9-3): The Aggies have recovered from a three-game losing streak in October to win six straight, including upsets of Nebraska and Big 12 Conference champion Oklahoma. Part of that has to do with the play of quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who started the season as a backup but earned the job by passing for a school-record 449 yards against Texas Tech.
Watchability rating: Four out of five stars.
