Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch charged with DUI
Marshawn Lynch has been charged with driving under the influence following his arrest early Saturday morning in Emeryville, Calif.
Alameda County district attorney director of communications Teresa Drenick said in an email Wednesday that the decision had been made to charge the Seattle Seahawks running back, who is due in court on Aug. 14.
Lynch was arrested on suspicion of DUI after being seen allegedly weaving on Interstate 880 near Oakland. The California Highway Patrol said in a report that Lynch’s Ford Ecoline van nearly hit two other vehicles driving in adjacent lanes.
According to authorities, Lynch showed signs of being intoxicated after being pulled over around 3:20 a.m. Saturday.
In 2008, Lynch pleaded guilty to a traffic violation and admitted to driving away after hitting a woman with his car.
A year later, he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge in 2009, leading to a three-game suspension by the NFL.
