Neil Patrick Harris teases 2012 Tony Awards again and again and ...

With the 2012 Tony Awards about a week away, it’s time for the soon-to-be three-time host Neil Patrick Harris to start teasing the show.

This week, CBS released a series of promos on YouTube starring Harris and an oversized Tony in the middle of Times Square in reference to Broadway’s “biggest” night.

While last year’s telecast and Tony count was dominated by “The Book of Mormon,” this year will have more family-friendly fare with performances scheduled by the casts of”Evita,””Once,” “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” and “Nice Work if You Can Get It,” which are all plugged in the promos.

The awards show, set to air Sunday on CBS, could use a ratings boost -- last year’s show drew 6.9 million viewers, down from 7.4 million viewers in 2009.

The actor-singer-magician-host proved a hit during his two previous Tony gigs with his comedic performances, including last year’s musical dual with former host Hugh Jackman and the catchy show opener with the message that Broadway’s “not just for gays anymore” that’s racked up more than 3 million views on YouTube.

So with the promos serving as a potential humor barometer for the upcoming ceremony, we counted 14 Tony jokes in this three-minute mash-up, including, “You know what they say, big award … big shelf.”
