Katy Perry: ‘Part of Me’ shows all, Russell Brand split included

Katy Perry’s upcoming 3-D documentary may be titled “Part of Me,” but the pop singer said it would “show everything” about her life, including her breakup six months ago with former husband Russell Brand.

“Sometimes people think that we’re perfect, and we know we’re not perfect at all,” Perry said Tuesday. “And I think it’s important to start breaking down the idea that to achieve your dream you have to always be perfect or flawless or live in kind of like some fantasy world.”

Appearing on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Perry told DeGeneres she “decided to put everything into the film — in the most tasteful way.” She added that “Part of Me” would trace her path to stardom, “which can be bumpy, but mostly it was extremely fun.”

Perry’s interview on “Ellen” followed Brand’s own visit less than a week ago, when the British comedian said he “was very happy to be married” to Perry and that he still loves her “as a human being.”

Brand and Perry married in October 2010, separated in December 2011 and settled the terms of their divorce amicably in Feburary, with neither party filing for spousal support.

Just how big a part Perry’s offstage plays in “Part of Me,” which follows the singer along her 124-date California Dreams tour, will be revealed when the film opens over the Fourth of July weekend. The film is produced by Paramount’s Insurge division, which scored a huge hit with a similar documentary about Justin Bieber, “Never Say Never.” That film grossed about $100 million worldwide.
