Flipboard rolls out magazine app for Android tablets

Flipboard, the popular social magazine, launched a version of its Android app Thursday that’s optimized for large-screen tablets, including the Google Nexus 10.

The app, which originally launched for the iPad in 2010, connects to users’ social networks to draw in content and then present it in magazine form.

The old Flipboard app for Android devices worked with tablets but was essentially an enlarged version of the app designed for smartphones.

The new app is designed for tablets’ larger displays and allows users to see larger story excerpts as well as add more tiles to the app’s sections page, according to Flipboard.

Additionally, users who prefer the phone version of the app, can go into the app’s settings to change back the view.

The new tablet-optimized app is also available for Kindle Fire and Nook users in their respective app stores.
