The most expensive wedding ever. For dogs.
The average human couple spend $27,000 on their wedding day. For Baby Hope Diamond and Chilly Pasternak, the big day cost $158,187.26.
We should probably mention that the groom was a dog. But so was the bride.
Their glittering affair — $6,000 wedding dress! $5,000 sushi spread! $15,000 orchestra! — at the Jumeirah Essex House Hotel in New York City won the Guinness World Record for the most expensive pet wedding ever.
Baby Hope, a white Coton de Tulear, is a rescue dog adopted by television celebrity and animal rights activist Wendy Diamond. Her hubby, Chilly, is a poodle from Virginia. They were united by online voters, who chose Chilly in a competition set up by Diamond.
The two will serve as spokespooches for Diamond’s charity, Animal Fair, which she founded in honor of her first rescue dog, Lucky. The Maltese, which had her own Guinness Record for the animal most photographed with celebrities, died of cancer last month.
The black-tie festivities joining Baby Hope and Chilly took place on the edge of Central Park on Thursday night.
Event planner Harriette Rose Katz, who has designed parties for Billy Baldwin and Cheyenne Phillips, organized the luxurious affair. Florists who once worked for Bill Clinton created flowering decorations. Triumph the Insult Comic Dog emceed. Buddy Valastro of TLC’s reality show “Cake Boss” made the cake.
Baby Hope’s dress cost more than Mark Zuckerberg’s wife’s.
Wedding vendors donated their services so that the $250-per-ticket proceeds could all go to the Lucky Diamond Critical Care Ward at the Humane Society of New York.
