Triumph goes retro-futuristic with Bonneville, Speed Triple
Everything old is new again.
Honda’s new 2013 CB1100 looks like the ‘70s are back. MotoGuzzi’s 2013 V7 Special has the spirit of the Ambassadors of that same era. And Triumph’s new 2013 Special Edition Bonneville, shown here for the first time, captures the mood of the ‘70s, too -- and the great lineage of Bonnevilles past.
But it’s not all retro at the 110-year-old British motorcycle manufacturer. The company’s 2013 Special Edition Speed Triple has the lines of a ballistic battle bike.
The Bonneville has a variety of adornments to please the eye, and to make the Special Edition special -- including a red frame highlighting black mirrors, cases, fork legs, swingarm and bash plate. Unlike its historic ancestors, it also has a very sleek saddle.
The Speed Triple features a blue frame and blue-pin-striped wheels, contrasting Matte Graphite-colored fly screen, seat cowl, and more. The basic package includes carbon fiber mud guards, tank cover panel and side pods. It looks like a superbike for Superman.
The two machines will be in dealerships after May 1, with the Bonnie priced at $7,999 and the Speed Triple at $13,399.
