New iPhones go on sale Sept. 20; prices start at $99

Apple announced it will begin selling its new iPhones -- the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C -- on Sept. 20.

The iPhone 5S is the successor to the iPhone 5 and is available in black, white and gold color options. It features an improved camera and a fingerprint scanner for security.

The iPhone 5C is a low-cost option with a plastic shell that comes in five different colors.

Customers can preorder the iPhone 5C starting this Friday, Sept 13. It can be purchased with 16 GB of storage for $99 with a two-year contract or 32 GB for $199.

The iPhone 5S, meanwhile, will be available for $199 with 16 GB of storage, $299 with 32 GB or $399 with 64 GB.

Apple also said the iPhone 4S will still be available. It is free with a two-year contract and comes with 8 GB of storage.
