Broadway castmates to join Idina Menzel in some stops on ‘If/Then’ tour

Idina Menzel will be joined by several original Broadway cast members of the musical “If/Then” for seven stops on the national tour that arrives at the Pantages Theatre in December and moves to the Segerstrom Center in Costa Mesa in January.

LaChanze, Anthony Rapp and James Snyder will reprise their roles as friends and acquaintances of Menzel’s character, Elizabeth, a newly divorced woman who moves to New York. The show explores two different paths her life might have taken if she had made different choices.

LaChanze, a Tony winner for “The Color Purple” and a veteran of Broadway musicals such as “Ragtime” and “Once On This Island,” among others, plays Kate, a kindergarten teacher. Rapp, like Menzel an original member of the cast of “Rent,” plays Elizabeth’s friend Lucas. James Snyder is Josh, a man she meets in one of the parallel story lines.

Menzel won a Tony award for her performance as Elpheba in “Wicked.” She also voiced the character of Elsa and sang the Academy Award-winning song “Let It Go.”
