‘Blurred Lines’ tops Spotify streaming for seventh week

There’s nothing ambiguous about it: Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” the smash summer hit that is now also the title of his new album, is dominating pretty much every metric.

The song, featuring vocalists Pharrell Williams and T.I., has been most-streamed song in the U.S. on the on-demand music service Spotify for seven straight weeks.

The song, which has received a lot of attention for its NSFW video, also currently sits atop Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart and iTunes’ song chart.

TIMELINE: Summer’s must see concerts

However, mixed reviews, including one from The Times’ Randall Roberts, indicate the rest of the new album may not be so infectious.

The much talked-about tune is nowhere to be found on Spotify’s list of most viral songs, which tracks the number of times people share the songs through social media versus the number of people who listened to them.

Spotify’s list, which shows what songs are currently getting buzz, includes shares through Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter and Spotify for the week ended July 28.

The top viral song was “Elevate” by the Brooklyn synth-pop group St. Lucia.

Here are Spoitfy’s list of top streaming songs and most viral tracks.
