CNN hires NBC News veteran Jamie Gangel
Linda Tripp is interviewed by NBC News show “Today” correspondent Jamie Gangel in 1999.
Former longtime NBC News correspondent Jamie Gangel has joined CNN.
Gangel, whose many political interviews during her 30-year run at NBC included six U.S. presidents, will be a special correspondent for the cable news channel.
The hiring reunites her with CNN President Jeff Zucker, who made Gangel a national correspondent on NBC’s “Today” when he was executive producer. Gangel was a fixture on the morning program from 1992 to 2013, when she left the network.

“In her time there, she reported some of the best stories and delivered some of the most exclusive interviews on the program,” Zucker said in a memo sent to staff Monday. “I am thrilled that she will now join us, contributing reports and interviews to all of our programs.”
The Washington, D.C.-based Gangel is the wife of bestselling novelist and former TV news producer Daniel Silva.
