Luxury IPic Theaters coming to Westwood’s Avco Center
South Florida-based IPic Entertainment has signed a lease to build a new six-screen, 480-seat luxury movie theater at the site of the former AMC Theatres at Avco Center in Westwood.
The IPic Theaters complex is slated to open in early 2013.
“We are excited and proud to bring the revolutionary concept of iPic Theaters to the heart of Los Angeles,” IPic Entertainment Chief Executive Hamid Hashemi said in a statement. “IPic prides itself in transforming the moviegoing experience into the ultimate night out.”
The new IPic Theaters at Avco Center will feature reclining chairs, pillows and blankets and offer reserved seating. At the push of a button, guests can summon servers to deliver dishes or hand-crafted cocktails. A restaurant called Tanzy will serve up Italian cuisine.
A full-service bar will offer an assortment of cocktails prepared by award-winning mixologist and master sommelier Adam Seger, the company said.
Established in 2006 and headquartered in Boca Raton, Fla, IPic Theaters has grown to nine locations with 67 screens in seven states over the last five years. IPic says its strategy is to deliver an “affordable luxury experience” in the cinema marketplace.
The company did not disclose what ticket prices would be at the new theater, which is the latest of several chains offering premium services in L.A., including the ArcLight, Sundance Cinemas and the Mexican chain Cineplos.
