Santa Barbara Festival sets film, tribute lineup

The Santa Barbara Film Festival will present 13 world premieres and 32 American premieres in its 28th annual gathering, with tributes set for actors Ann Dowd (“Compliance”), Elle Fanning (“Ginger & Rosa”), Ezra Miller (“The Perks of Being a Wallflower”), Omar Sy (“The Intouchables”), Eddie Redmayne (“Les Misérables”) and Quevenzhané Wallis (“Beasts of the Southern Wild”).

Running Jan. 24 to Feb. 3, the festival will open with “Disconnect,” an ensemble drama starring Jason Bateman and Hope Davis, and close with “Wasteland,” a crime thriller featuring Matthew Lewis and Timothy Spall. Both movies will be American premieres.

The festival also will host a gala screening of the Chilean film “No,” starring Gael Garcia Bernal.

Other award and tribute honorees include “Argo” director Ben Affleck (who will receive the Modern Master award), “Lincoln’s” Daniel Day-Lewis (the Montecito award), “The Master’s” Amy Adams (the Cinema Vanguard award), “Django Unchained’s” Leonardo DiCaprio (the American Riviera award) and Jennifer Lawrence from “Silver Linings Playbook” (Outstanding Performer of the Year award).

Dowd, Fanning, Miller, Redmayne, Sy and Wallis will receive the festival’s Virtuosos Award.
