For Carrie Underwood and her hockey-player husband, Mike Fisher, it hasn’t quite sunk in that they’re going to be first-time parents. That from none other than the mother-to-be!

The country star talked about her whirlwind of a pregnancy during a Friday morning appearance on “Today.”

“It’s still kinda weird, to be honest,” Underwood admitted to guest co-anchor Hoda Kotb. “Sometimes I’ll be with my husband, and it’s like, I’m gonna be a mom. You’re gonna be a dad. Is this real life?”

The “Jesus Take the Wheel” singer certainly made it feel real when she announced her pregnancy earlier this month with a photo on Instagram and Twitter. The cute pic featured Underwood and her two dogs, each wearing a “big sister” or “big brother” doggie T-shirt. The caption read, “In honor of ‘Labor’ Day, Ace & Penny would like to make an announcement. Their parents couldn’t be happier...”

As a follow-up, Fisher, a center for the NHL’s Nashville Predators, tweeted, “We haven’t picked names yet but it’s looking like Fly is gonna fly. #boyorgirl #flyfisher.”

Baby is due in spring. So Underwood, 31, and Fisher, 34, who tied the knot in 2010, have some time to think about that all-important name.

As for the pair’s parenting style, the “See You Again” singer hopes to take on a familiar one. “I have a wonderful mother,” Underwood said. “If I can be even a little bit like that, I think we’ll be good.”

For right now, music seems to be Underwood’s immediate baby. The six-time Grammy winner’s new single, “Something in the Water,” comes out Dec. 9, off her “Greatest Hits” album. “It’s really a joyous, uplifting song about changing your life for the better,” Underwood said.

Changing your life for the better: That’s something a baby can do too!
