Daniel Baldwin proposes to Robin Sue Hertz Hempel at film festival

Daniel Baldwin popped the question to Robin Sue Hertz Hempel at the 29th Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival on Saturday, and she said yes!

The second-eldest Baldwin brother -- Alec Baldwin is his big bro --and the entrepreneur had been dating for about a year, according to People, which confirmed the engagement.

The “Homicide: Life in the Streets” actor told the mag he “slipped the ring into a glass of cranberry juice” to surprise his now-fiancee, who spotted the five-carat rock in the ice. No bubbly, of course, as the 54-year-old “Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew” dropout is now sober after years of struggling with substance abuse.

Baldwin was at the festival promoting his film “The Wisdom to Know the Difference.” He also received the fest’s Renaissance Award for writing, directing and starring in the movie, which, according to his Twitter feed, took home four awards of its own.

Good timing on that proposal!

“Wisdom,” which was shot for $60,000, is loosely based on a man Baldwin once knew, he told Austin MD. It follows Bob, played by Baldwin, as he “brings his sobriety full circle” by taking risks to help a woman kick drugs.

This will be the actor’s fourth marriage. He has four daughters and a son, ranging in age from 5 to 30, from previous relationships.
