Jessica Alba: Double corset was her secret to losing baby weight

Jessica Alba wore double corsets to achieve her signature toned body after her two pregnancies.

So, basically, she would have fit right in in Victorian-era England.

It turns out the secret to concealing the visible changes a woman’s body undergoes during childbearing is wearing two girdles.

“It was brutal; it’s not for everyone,” the 31-year-old told Net-A-Porter’s digital magazine. “I wore a double corset day and night for three months. It was sweaty, but worth it.”

Celebrities including Brooke Burke-Charvet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kourtney Kardashian and Jennifer Garner reportedly used the tummy-tucking method too.

“The concept behind abdominal binders is very common after surgery and after the delivery of a baby to help support abdominal muscles, help with posture and reduce the feeling of bloating,” said Dr. Jennifer Ashton, senior medical contributor for ABC News.

Alba has two daughters, Honor, 4, and Haven, nearly 2, with entrepreneur husband Cash Warren. The couple met on the set of comic book flick “Fantastic Four” in 2004. “We both chose the right person,” she said of their marriage.

She founded eco-friendly the Honest Co., which makes nontoxic household cleaners and baby products. And she recently wrote a book called “The Honest Life,” which chronicles her experiences as a mother and the side of her that isn’t a sex symbol. She’s said she did it to help others live “a healthy, natural lifestyle — without being boring, beige or blah.”

Writing the book “was daunting. But I wanted this information to be easy to understand,” she said. “There are so many different sources that have such strong opinions. I wanted to have no judgment: Here’s the information, take from it what you will.”

The actress also reflected on her career. She recently wrapped up the “Sin City” sequel, “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For,” which she dubbed “the best movie I’ve ever done.” The film is slated for October release.

“It was so opposite to what I do [at home],” she said. “My approach to acting now is so different — I’m fearless because I have nothing to lose. Before [children] my identity was wrapped up in every decision — now, I don’t care. It could be a pile of ... and you could think it was the worst thing you ever saw, but I still had the best experience.”

We imagine it’s partially because she didn’t have to wear a double girdle.
