Uma Thurman and fiance Arpad Busson have reportedly put the brakes on their engagement once again.

The 43-year-old “Nymphomaniac” star and the French hedge-fund billionaire, who goes by Arki, are said to have had trouble making their New York-London relationship work, according to the Daily Mail, which first reported the split.

“Uma lives in New York while Arki lives in London. He has been out and about without Uma since October when he went to a Halloween party alone,” a source told the British paper. “They have been at one or two events together, like Harvey Weinstein’s pre-BAFTA party in February, but on that occasion they looked miserable.”

The gamine actress and Busson, who was previously involved with supermodel Elle MacPherson, have been together on-and-off since 2007. Thurman called off their engagement back in 2009 and she returned her eight-carat engagement ring. But they rekindled their romance in 2011, just before the birth of their daughter Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence Thurman-Busson in 2012. (More about their daughter’s lengthy moniker here.)

Us Weekly also confirmed the split through a source who said, “It’s true.” Thurman and Busson, 51, were set to attend the Room to Grow Spring Gala in New York together April 8, but only Thurman attended, without her engagement ring.

The New York-based actress also has two children with ex-husband Ethan Hawke, Maya, 16, and Levon, 12. She and Hawke had a high-profile split in 2003 following a spate of infidelity rumors. They finalized their divorce in 2005. Busson and his ex, Macpherson, have two sons together, Aurelius, 11, and Arpad, 16.

Thurman, who has appeared in fewer films since the birth of her third child, told The Times in March she is approaching this chapter in her career differently.

“I’m finally getting so much more calm than I used to be,” she said. “I don’t think I ever allowed myself to look forward to things. There was always anticipatory anxiety, and unfortunately, that had too much say in my reaction. But everything feels different now.”
