Paul Rudd runs with the insects in new photos from Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’

Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Ant-Man” hopes to pack as much of a superheroic punch as its recent hit sequel “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” only on a smaller scale.
A much smaller scale.
“Ant-Man” stars Paul Rudd as the titular hero, who is able to shrink down to the size of an ant using a high-tech suit.
To stoke fan interest, Marvel has released a dozen new photos detailing Ant-Man’s interaction with his insectoid namesakes and also offers a closer look at some of the film’s costars, including Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, David Dastmalchian and Corey Stoll.

Not only does the scale of the action appear more miniature, but the images also give a sense that the film itself will be a smaller, less-crowded affair than other recent Marvel films, which have often featured seemingly dozens of characters competing for screen time.
Of course, this is only the beginning of Ant-Man’s moment in the spotlight. Rudd is already set to reprise his role in next year’s “Captain America: Civil War,” and could very well end up in the next “Avengers” sequel.
“Ant-Man” also stars Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Clifford “T.I.” Harris and Judy Greer. Fans will also want to keep an eye out for familiar faces from the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“Ant-Man” opens July 17.
