‘Suicide Squad’s’ Joker is working a lot of look

Share

A new head-to-toe image of “Suicide Squad’s” Joker has been revealed, and it looks as if a box of leftover Party City Halloween costumes vomited all over Jared Leto.

Empire Magazine released the cover image of its limited-edition “Suicide Squad” issue featuring Leto as the Clown Prince of Crime. Complete with a long metallic purple coat, Arkham-branded sweatpants and a cane.

Missing from his look? A shirt and some shoes. But that’s how we know he’s a psycho killer, right?

The slow social media reveal of Leto’s transformation into the Joker has already put the many tattoos adorning this version of the villain on display. This cover image confirms that yes, you did indeed see a flash of Joker with his name and smile tattooed on his abs in that “Suicide Squad” footage.

Not all fans have been keen on this interpretation of Joker, and it’s hard to see this new image making converts of previous naysayers. But maybe we’re underestimatig the power of his swagger and low-slung sweatpants.

“Suicide Squad,” of course, is Warner Bros.’ upcoming film featuring an all-star roster of DC supervillains who are recruited by the government to take on covert missions in exchange for clemency. Besides Leto, the film will also star Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, Jai Courtney, Viola Davis, Will Smith, Joel Kinnaman, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jay Hernandez, Adam Beach and Karen Fukuhara.

Directed by David Ayers, “Suicid Squad” is set to hit theaters Aug. 5, 2016.
