Gainsbourg and His Girls If ever there were a man with muses, it was Serge Gainsbourg. This documentary, making its L.A. premiere, presents a portrait of the French singer-songwriter as seen through the eyes of the many women in his life, including Jane Birkin, Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Deneuve and Anna Karina. Kim Fowley’s Last Days of Summer The mad hatter of L.A.’s cult music scene has been producing and writing hit records since 1959, long before he managed the Runaways in the late ‘70s. Proving that his energies are undiminished, even at age 72, he hosts a decadent all-ages night of music and dance, featuring Brianna Garcia, Sinister Mass, Lipstick California, NoiZee and more. Powaqqatsi Godfrey Reggio’s experimental, psychedelic follow-up to his groundbreaking “Koyaanisqatsi” explored the industrialization of traditional societies, and it also had an excellent score by Philip Glass.
