Nafisi Haji and Shilpi Somaya Gowda “The Sweetness of Tears” is the second novel from Haji, the author of 2009’s “The Writing on My Forehead.” The new book is a sweeping family saga told through alternating voices and intertwining lives and features a protagonist named after Louisa May Alcott’s Jo March. Le Butcherettes The former girl band from Guadalajara now features boys playing keyboards and drums, but founding member Teri Gender Bender is still confounding expectations with her lively — and sometimes messy — stage act.
