MUSIC

Ida Maria The youthful Norwegian rocker, who rose to success in her home country in 2007 after winning two national music competitions, has been on a bit of a roll. With her song “Bad Karma” featured in “Scream 4” and a brand new album, “Katla,” hot off the presses, her raw and energetic voice is finally getting the international attention it deserves. Detroit Bar, 843 W. 19th St., Costa Mesa. 9 p.m. $12. (949) 642-0600. detroitbar.com.

Sondre Lerche The Norwegian charmer has found himself a winning formula: combine witty lyrics with jazzy folk-pop. On his self-titled latest album, he embraces a new level of candidness, perhaps a survival skill he honed from living in Williamsburg, the Brooklyn enclave known not for stray bullets but for all those stray cupid’s arrows. Bring a date or get one at the show. El Rey Theatre, 5515 Wilshire Blvd. 8 p.m. $20. Theelrey.com

COMEDY

Jurassic Park: The Musical Having been a bestselling book and a blockbuster film franchise, it was perhaps inevitable that “Jurassic Park” would someday tread the boards — though not necessarily as a comedy musical. This UCB show features such songs as “Clever Girl” and “Their Vision Is Based on Movement” and promises “live dinosaurs” onstage. Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, 5919 Franklin Ave., L.A. 8 p.m. $5. (323) 908-8702. https://www.ucbtheatre.com.

BOOKS

The Rattling Wall Is there something of a lit-journal revival happening in Los Angeles? Sam Dunn, Libby Flores, Alisa Slaughter, KM Droney and Eric Layer read from the inaugural issue. Book Soup, 8818 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood. 7 p.m. Free. booksoup.com.
