The Felice Brothers This band is at the cutting edge of the Americana revival of late, with a more cracked and dystopian vision than such peers as Mumford & Sons or the Head and the Heart. Women Hold Up Half the Sky The exhibition addresses the worldwide oppression of females as the human rights cause of our time. Inspired by the book “Half the Sky: Turning Oppression Into Opportunity for Women Worldwide” by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, the exhibit documents stories from around the world through photographs and other visual art, sound installations and interactive gallery experiences of women who have changed their lives and started businesses with $2 loans. The Young Literati A core group of supporters in their 20s, 30s and 40s will be celebrating the Los Angeles Public Library’s 139th year in business with music, drinks and hors d’oeuvres.
