Jake Owen’s big weekend: Tussles with cops, marries Lacey Buchanan

Country singer Jake Owen tied the knot with model Lacey Buchanan during a sunrise ceremony Monday in his hometown of Vero Beach, Fla.

Owen and Buchanan met on the set of his music video “8 Second Ride” and later starred in the “Barefoot Blue Jean Night.”

Buchanan, 22, got hitched in an Amasale gown and the groom, 30, wore a white linen Armani shirt and Tommy Bahama drawstring pants, People reports. They wed barefoot on the beach during sunrise.

“That was my idea, because it’s symbolic of the dawn of a new day and starting our new life together,” Owen told the magazine.

“A best friend for life. I now have a wifey :)” he tweeted after the ceremony. “My face hurts from smiling..What a wonderful way to start the rest of my life.”

But the wedding almost didn’t happen, E! reports, after Owen’s Cinco de Mayo celebrations ended Saturday with him being detained by authorities in Vero Beach.

“I want to publicly apologize again for bringing to light a situation that I overreacted to,” he tweeted, later apologizing to the local sheriff’s department for doing its job.

Buchanan’s sister Leah served as the maid of honor and Owen’s twin brother Jarrod was the best man. The ceremony, which was officiated by Owen’s uncle Ron, was followed by family-only patio reception at the Vero Beach Hotel and Spa that included champagne, brunch and cake.

“I’m looking forward to being a husband, someone his wife relies and leans on,” he said.

Owen proposed to Buchanan at Vero Beach High School, his alma mater, last April after performing “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You.” The impromptu proposal was missing the ring he designed himself, which he later presented to her at their home in Nashville when he proposed again.
