Beyonce, Jay-Z celebrate 5th anniversary in Havana, Cuba
Beyonce and Jay-Z celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in Cuba this week.
The couple, who married on April 4, 2008, took in the sights of Old Havana, visited a school, dined on a rooftop terrace and strolled the fan-filled streets in their island best.
They were mobbed at La Guarida restaurant on Thursday, and police were called to keep fans at bay, People reported.
The power couple declined to answer journalists’ questions about their visit to the island nation, but some outlets are reporting that the moguls are there as tourists, though that would be illegal because of the half-century embargo the U.S. has on the Communist country. However, the Miami Herald said Washington has issued special licenses for cultural, religious, academic and other types of visits.
Perhaps Bey has some sway with the Obamas after her performance at the inauguration?
Bey was photographed Thursday carrying a large camera and wearing a short island-print dress and large sunglasses, her braided hair swept into an up-do. Jay-Z strolled the streets with her in a bright polo, shorts and a fedora as he smoked a cigar.
On Friday, she rocked it out in a printed mini-dress from Diane Von Furstenberg’s pre-fall collection, E! News reported.
“I feel like Mrs. Carter is who I am, but more bold and more fearless than I’ve ever been,” she recently told British Vogue of her relationship with Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter.
“I do believe in equality, and that we have a ways to go. … But I’m happily married. I love my husband.”
On Wednesday, the singer released a teaser for a big Thursday announcement that turned out to be her latest Pepsi commercial, which featured a snippet from her single “Grown Woman.”
The short ad plays out like a capsule of Beyonce music videos through the years. Yes, there’s even a very Destiny’s Child-like hot-pink jumpsuit involved.
