Burt Reynolds hospitalized in ICU with flu symptoms

Burt Reynolds found himself in in the ICU on Friday after being hospitalized with a nasty case of the flu.

The “Boogie Nights” and “Smokey and the Bandit” actor was placed in intensive care because he was “severely dehydrated,” a rep told TMZ.

Later in the day, the 76-year-old was “doing better,” his representative, Erik Kritzer, told CNN, and Reynolds was expected to be moved back to a regular hospital room once he’d received more fluids.

“They are taking care of him and his mustache,” Reynolds’ camp told E! Online.

Doctors are reportedly optimistic that the actor will make a full recovery.

Fun fact: “Burt Reynolds” is the name of the mayor’s pet alligator in the CW series “Hart of Dixie.” The more toothy, more scaly — and more fictional — Reynolds lives in Alabama, however, not Florida. And has no mustache.
